Undercover Marsupial Infiltrates Retail Sector, Reviews Mixed
A live possum was discovered embedded among the plush toy inventory of an Australian airport gift shop, raising uncomfortable questions about quality control and, frankly, competitive pricing.
According to KSAT, the animal was found nestled alongside its stuffed counterparts, apparently unbothered by the retail environment or the foot traffic of international travelers. No word yet on how long it had been employed there, unofficially or otherwise.
Webster would like to state plainly that this is not the first time a real animal has out-performed its plastic imitation, but it may be the first time one did so at a markup of zero dollars.
For a local perspective on marsupial infiltration tactics, this desk consulted Bazza, a kangaroo who claims extensive experience loitering in places he is not, strictly speaking, supposed to be.
His account of events differs from the official record, mainly in that he believes the possum should have unionized first.
Airport management has not indicated whether the possum will be added to the payroll or simply escorted to the nearest exit. Either way, it has already won more hearts than the keychains.
“Mate, that's just good business — cut out the middleman, put the real product on the shelf. I've hopped through that duty-free myself looking for the good biscuits.” — Bazza, resident kangaroo
