A bear has been making the rounds through Centreville, Virginia, apparently unbothered by zoning laws, leash requirements, or the concept of personal property lines.

Per WUSA9, the animal was caught on camera roaming residential streets in the area. No injuries or property damage were reported in connection with the sightings.

There is a particular confidence to a bear strolling through suburbia like it's weighing school districts, and this reporter admires it even while filing the paperwork. Every bear-in-the-neighborhood video now doubles as unpaid real estate marketing.

For a resident's view, this outlet tracked down Harlan, a Centreville deer who has observed the bear's movements from a safer distance than most humans. His theory on the animal's route planning deserves more credit than it's gotten.

The bear has not announced its final decision on the neighborhood. Residents are advised not to wait up.

“He's not lost, he's comparison shopping. I've watched him circle the same cul-de-sac three times, that's a bear deciding between two yards with good trash pickup schedules, and bears can smell food from over a mile away, so really, your fence was never part of the plan.” — Harlan, Centreville deer
