Cedar Point's petting zoo has apparently decided that 'enclosure' is more of a suggestion, having now let animals escape for the third time in a single calendar year — a pace that would get most amusement park attractions shut down, or at minimum, audited.

Per local reporting out of Sandusky, Ohio, animals got loose from the petting zoo attraction again this week, marking the third such incident in roughly twelve months. Specifics on which animals wandered off and how far they got were not fully detailed, though staff reportedly rounded them back up.

Three escapes in one year is not an incident, it is a pattern, and patterns, in this columnist's experience, usually trace back to a fence, a latch, or an employee named Gary who swears he closed it. The park has not announced a fourth-quarter security review, which seems like an oversight.

Reached for comment, Antlerina, a deer who grazes the tree line just outside the park's perimeter, claims to have watched all three escapes personally. Her version of events paints a picture considerably less chaotic than the one offered by park management.

Cedar Point has not said whether a fourth escape is on the calendar, but this reporter wouldn't bet against it.

“Third time this year? Amateurs. I've been hopping that same fence since July and nobody's caught me yet. Humans keep patching the same spot with chicken wire, which, fun fact, a determined goat can chew through in about four minutes.” — Antlerina, Sandusky-area deer
