An alligator reportedly treated a North Carolina bagel shop like its own personal breakfast nook this week, sneaking inside and 'greeting' the stunned owners in footage that has since circulated widely. Webster notes the animal apparently bypassed the register entirely.

Video captured the gator entering the shop and approaching the owners, who can be seen scrambling in the clip before the situation was brought under control. Reports do not indicate whether the animal attempted to order anything, though this reporter assumes a schmear was involved somewhere.

Webster, filing from the health-code desk, notes that most establishments worry about rodents, not reptiles with the confidence of a regular customer. He adds that the gator's posture in the footage suggests this was not its first visit.

For ground-level context, Webster tracked down 'Biscuit,' a pigeon known to work the shop's patio for dropped crumbs, who claims to have observed the situation developing for some time. The pigeon's account diverges notably from the shop's official telling.

No injuries were reported, and the gator was eventually removed, though its opinion of the shop's bagel selection remains, per all available sourcing, unrecorded.

“I've seen that gator casing the joint for weeks, he's not subtle about it. Humans leave sesame seeds everywhere, of course he came in — gators can hold their breath twenty minutes, so really he just wanted to warm up by the register.” — 'Biscuit', downtown pigeon
